Choosing a skirting board profile
The profile is the shape of the board, and it sets the character of the room. Here is how ours differ, with a page for each:
- Pencil Round skirting board: a modern design with a 3mm radius on the top edge, which gives a longer paint or stain life. Easy to fit.
- Bullnosed skirting board: similar to Pencil Round but with a 9mm radius, and one of the most popular moulds on the market. Easy to fit.
- Chamfer skirting board: a crisp, clean 8mm chamfer, also available with a V groove (Chamfered-Grooved). Easy to fit.
- Torus skirting board: a classic, beautifully curved design that suits almost any room.
- Ogee skirting board: a deep, sweeping, curved profile that never goes out of fashion.
- Chatsworth skirting board: a period mould with rounded and sweeping elements, good for period properties.
- Manor House skirting board: a grand 170mm mould for period properties and high ceilings.
Oak or pine?
Prime European Oak has a distinctive grain that adds character, and it glues, stains and finishes well. Unsorted Grade Softwood Pine is a good choice if you plan to paint or stain. Both are available in most profiles, and a free sample lets you check the colour and profile before you order. Our quantity calculator works out how much to buy, including an allowance for cuts and waste. Doorways next? See our matching architrave.
