Choosing an architrave profile
Architrave frames your doors and windows, so it is usually chosen to match the skirting board. Here is how our profiles differ, with a page for each:
- Pencil Round architrave: a modern design with a 3mm radius on the top edge, which gives a longer paint or stain life.
- Bullnosed architrave: similar to Pencil Round but with a 9mm radius, and one of the most popular moulds on the market.
- Chamfer architrave: a crisp, clean 8mm chamfer, also available with a V groove (Chamfered-Grooved).
- Torus architrave: a classic, simple, curved design that suits almost any doorway.
- Ogee architrave: a sweeping, curved profile that never goes out of fashion.
- Chatsworth architrave: a period mould with rounded and sweeping elements.
- Manor House architrave: a grand 95mm mould for period properties and high ceilings.
Oak or pine?
Prime European Oak has a distinctive grain that adds character, and it glues, stains and finishes well. Unsorted Grade Softwood Pine is a good choice if you plan to paint or stain. A free sample lets you check the colour and profile before you order, and our quantity calculator works out how much to buy. Looking for the matching board for the bottom of the wall?
