What Height Skirting Board Do You Need?

Skirting board height changes how a room feels, so it is worth choosing deliberately. Here is a simple way to decide.

Taller boards suit taller rooms

As a rough guide, the higher the ceiling, the taller the skirting should be. Older houses with high ceilings usually look best with a taller, more decorative board. Lower, modern rooms tend to suit a shorter, simpler profile.

Our heights

  • 120mm: a good all-round height for most modern homes.
  • 170mm: a taller board that gives more presence, popular for period properties and larger rooms.

Match your architrave

Choose the same mould for your skirting board and your architrave so the room looks consistent. Our architraves come in the same mould designs as our skirting boards.
