Oak vs Pine Skirting Board: Which Should You Choose?
Both our oak and pine skirting boards come in the same range of profiles, so the choice is mostly about look, finish and budget. Here is how they compare.
Quick answer
Choose Prime European Oak if you want a hardwood with a distinctive grain that stains and finishes well. Choose unsorted grade softwood pine if you plan to paint and want a lower price. We always recommend premium, but pine is a sound budget option.

Which suits which job?
- Staining or a natural oak look: oak.
- Painting on a tighter budget: pine.
- Long runs with fewer joins: pine's longer lengths can help, but check availability for your delivery area on the product page.
