How to Measure and Order Skirting Board
Ordering the right amount of skirting board first time saves money and avoids waiting for a second delivery. Here is a simple method.
1. Measure each wall
Measure along the bottom of every wall where skirting will go, in metres. Do not include door openings. Write each length down separately.
2. Add them up
Add all the wall lengths together to get the total run in metres. Our boards are priced by the metre, so this is the number you need.
3. Allow extra for cuts
Corners, joints and mistakes all use up timber. It is sensible to allow extra, and many people add around 10% to the total. Buying a little more than you need is cheaper than reordering.
4. Think about lengths
Longer lengths mean fewer joins on a long wall. Depending on the product and your delivery address, we can supply lengths up to 3 metres, and longer lengths (up to 4.2 or 4.5 metres on some products) within our zone 1 delivery area or for collection. Check the product page for what is available.
5. Order a sample first
Not sure about the wood or mould? Order a free sample from the product page. Prices include VAT.
